Build Your Own (worm) Bin!

Would you like natural, homemade compost for your seedlings, potted plants and vegetable gardens? Learn how to turn your food scraps into a valuable resource for your garden and expand your recycling efforts at a backyard worm composting workshop taught by UC Master Gardener / UC Master Composter, Bridget Matz. 

Here's your opportunity to get off on the right foot as you enter the world of vermiculture (worm composting) by building your own worm bin with expert help to make sure all the (easy!) details are on track from the very start. 

We hope you will BYOB (Bring Your Own Bin) so you can build your new worm compost factory right along with us during the workshop but you may choose to just follow along so you can do your building later or pick up tips on getting the most from an existing worm bin.

The class will employ a combination of informal lecture and hands-on participatory activities in order to learn how to source or build your own worm bin, where to get worms to get started, how to maintain it as well as tips on harvesting and using your resulting compost.
